Privacy Policy
Label Magic is made by David Kahler. This policy covers the Label Magic apps for Mac, iPhone and iPad, and this website.
In short: Label Magic doesn't collect any personal data. Your labels are processed on your device and are never uploaded. There's no account, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking inside the app.
Labels and files you open
When you open a PDF or image, Label Magic reads it on your device to find, crop and print the label. The file and its contents, including names, addresses and tracking numbers, never leave your device and aren't sent to us or anyone else.
On iPhone and iPad, a label you share into Label Magic from another app is copied into the app's private storage so it can be opened, then deleted.
What the app stores on your device
- Label history: the file name, date, and the carrier and tracking number read from each label's barcode, so you can find and track it later. You can clear it at any time from Label History.
- Folder and settings: the folder you last browsed, which files in it looked like labels (so they don't need re-checking), your label size and printer resolution settings, and on Mac the last printer you used.
- Free label count: how many of the free labels you've printed, kept in your device's keychain so it isn't reset by reinstalling the app.
None of this is sent off your device. Deleting the app removes it, except the free label count, which stays in the keychain.
Purchases
The unlock is an in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. The app asks Apple whether you've bought the unlock, or bought Label Magic when it was a paid app, to decide whether printing is unlocked. Apple doesn't share your name, email or payment details with us. Apple's own handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Printing and tracking
- Labels are sent to the printer you choose, through your device's standard printing system. On Mac, the app reads your printer's supported paper sizes to pick the right label size.
- When you use Track, the app opens the carrier's tracking page (for example USPS or UPS) in your browser, with the tracking number in the address. The carrier's privacy policy applies to that page.
Diagnostics
The app writes diagnostic messages to your device's system log to help troubleshoot problems, with file names, folders, printer names and tracking numbers redacted. These logs stay on your device. We only see them if you choose to send them to us.
